Former students of Donkwe Donkwe High School in ward 14 Matobo through their association , the (ALUMNI)have donated Cash close to R4000.00 to the school as part of helping the institution towards resuscitation of Science laboratory .Mostly In rural areas ,schools are unable to afford to run science laboratories. This means that students learn the theory behind practical experiments without having any hands-on experience to draw from , hence these came at the right time to the right school.
Speaking to Bayethe Fm ,the ALUMNI representative , Miss Precious T Chinamatira said they saw a necessity to consider Sciences and a potential at their former school hence the kind gesture.
"The class of 1998 in Donkwe Donkwe High came together and thought of improving their school , the Alumni contributed R3600.00 towards the Science laboratory, this gesture was was a way of giving backto the school. We wish to encourage all former students both local and those in the diaspora to come forward and join this bandwagon as we work towards development of our School “ She said.
The Deputy Headmaster of the school Mr Tachiona Isheanesu uttered words of appreciation and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the ALUMNI ’s philanthrophic stance towards education especially sciences.
“The hand that gives never lacks. The precedence set by the alumni is a torch that sheds light to all community members with regards to appreciating our roots. Donkwe Donkwe has produced a lot of prolific people and we find honour and happiness when some of our products reciprocate in kind to the school. Boosting our science laboratory resources will go a long way in the efficacious delivering of pure sciences lessons by our dedicated teacher Mr Mhlanga N “ Said Mr Tachiona
The Headmaster of The school also cited the importance of community members and former students coming together in terms of school development and educational resources towards quality education for the students
”Donkwe Donkwe High school pupils counted it all joy on 30 March as they received a donation of close to R4000 rands from D.K High ALUMNI representative Precious Chinamatira. There was a lot of ululation and jubilation in this ecstatic moment by the D.K High pupils.Even the birds of prey watched in amazement as pupils teachers express their joy. It was a shot in the arm for the school to say the least. This is a very unusual ploughing back gesture by the Alumni. There is no gift or donation too big or too small. This is going to go a long way in resuscitating our Science learning area which fits pupils into the real world. It was no easy walk to this level as it was characterized by numerous false starts. It was all through thick and thin by the Donkwe Donkwe High 1998 Head boy Sphatho Moyo and Chinamatira Precious , the1998 Herd Girl together with Dube Chazani all based in South Africa and others in accompaniment based in U.K who felt no pain in blessing the grounds that are the benchmark for their success in life’’ He said.
"This is just the start, a lot more is coming' said Precious who proudly presented the donation." We thus peg our greatest hopes on that they walk the talk .The school is hence immeasurably grateful for such a unique gesture and precedence that amply demonstrates that there are people who are equally alive in such hidden corners of Zimbabwe. On the same vein we have no hesitancy in expressing our profound gratitude's to our SDC Chairman Mr LACTON NCUBE , the other Alumni and other former students at Home who have gone an extra mile by donating close to twenty window panes to the school. Tenson Sibanda also playing a pivotal as part of the ALUMNI cannot be left out. There’s no gift too big or too small.Blessed is the hand that giveth, Acts 20 verse 35 " Said Mr Ncube
Mr N Mhlanga the Sciences teacher also appreciated the former students and said the donation will henceforth make sure that , learners have more time to practise and carry out experiments in their benefit towards their course of learning and examinations by at least having access to basic laboratory equipment.
‘’ As the Pure science teacher am grateful for such a generous donation that has extrinsically motivated me to ensure we have a better enrollment of more students in the learning of science subjects in the area of Kezi , I hope this action by the former Learners also proves to encourage the community to trust and assist the schools in promoting science education and continuous laboratory renovation of the school to a point that we have an Advanced level of the pure science in the rural areas as well. I'm humbled and challenged ‘ he said
